Request a State Proclamation to Declare May 20 as Clinical Trials Day
Clinical Trials Day is our annual moment to honor the people and progress that move research forward. This year, ACRP is working to have May 20 officially recognized through Governor’s Proclamations across the country.
What is a State Proclamation?
A state proclamation is an official, written declaration issued by a governor or legislative body to recognize a specific day, event, or area of public importance. Proclamations follow a standardized format and affirm why the observance deserves statewide recognition. When issued, they formally acknowledge the organizations, professionals, and communities connected to the cause—in this case, the clinical research workforce and the vital role they play in advancing health.
Why Does It Matter?
Recognizing Clinical Trials Day through a state proclamation elevates the visibility of clinical research and the professionals who make it possible. These ceremonial declarations help the public better understand the importance of clinical trials, celebrate the workforce, and reinforce that clinical research is fundamental to medical progress.
Proclamations also signal that a state values the advancement of science, patient safety, and innovation. By encouraging states to recognize May 20 as Clinical Trials Day, we shine a spotlight on the people who move research forward—and help expand awareness of how clinical trials improve health outcomes for everyone.
